The Rose House Kinship Center's Open House and Caregiver Appreciation Day - A Huge Success!!!
On September 14 2006, The Rose House Kinship Association Center hosted an Open House and first annual Kinship Caregiver Day of Recognition. The Rose House Board of Directors was honored to receive proclamations of support from the Mayor of El Cajon, and Supervisor Dianne Jacob, on behalf of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors. Caregivers and community partners from across the county celebrated and paid tribute the 30,000+ relatives in San Diego County raising a family member's child. Casey Family Programs, Grossmont Community College and East Region Health & Human Services Child Welfare Services Dept., all honored and recognized the work of The Rose House Kinship Association Center.

Time Again to Stuff Some Turkeys and Deck Some Halls...
With the holiday season right around the corner, kinship families, and the Rose House staff are preparing for the upcoming celebrations. The holiday season is a time to appreciate family and friends, express our gratitude and celebrate! The Rose House is actively working to ensure that all of our kinship families and children are able to participate and enjoy traditional holiday festivities. Unfortunately, the holiday season can be a stressful time for many relative caregivers. Thousands of caregivers struggle throughout the year to meet the needs of the children and family, often on a fixed income or retirement. The holiday season can be particularly stressful. Many caregivers worry they will not be able to provide the children with a Thanksgiving turkey or Christmas gift. The Rose House staff would like to invite our friends and neighbors to join us in our commitment to ensure the holiday dreams of kinship children are not overlooked. The Rose House will be accepting contributions towards holiday food baskets and gifts for children/youth.
